Welcome to the LRS Companies!

In 1986 Locomotive Repair Service was established by Ronnie Holdaway and his son, Thomas, with his wife Coweta doing the books.  This company was created to help short lines and industries with their maintenance and repairs of their locomotives.  Ronnie had started his career with locomotives at the Frisco Railroad in 1968 as a Machinist Apprentice.  In 1984 he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Brakeman / Switchman and Hostler and became a certified Conductor.  Thomas began his at the age of 12 training under Ronnie working weekends on local short lines and industries doing emergency repairs on their locomotives.

In 1992, Rhonda, Ronnie’s daughter began helping Coweta with the books, and in 1995, Anthony, Ronnie’s son joined the family business. 

In 2004 Locomotive Repair Service incorporated as LRS Companies, Inc. and became a 75% minority owned business with Coweta, Rhonda, Anthony and Darcy, Thomas’s wife, becoming the owners.  In 2004 LRS Parts, Inc. was born to help our customers in finding parts and to help negotiate lower prices for them.  At this time we are selling parts nation wide.  If we don’t have the part you need in inventory, give us a call, we will try to find it for you and 9 times out of 10, we will.  

In 2005, LRS Companies, Inc. became a strictly administrative company with all billing coming through them and with the separation of LRS Service, Inc. out of it.  LRS Services, Inc. became the repair and maintenance company at that time.  Currently, it not only continues with those duties, but also does training for businesses and short lines’ locomotive maintenance personnel.

In 2007 LRS Leasing, LLC was created to lease locomotives and tools to our customers, such as air jacks and wheel truing machines, and to consult on locomotive purchases and sales. 

So as you can see, we have definitely become the company to go to “For All Your Locomotive Needs”.
